We are a group of executives from the financial, entertainment and other industries that have come together to establish a well-reasoned response to the need for an ethical framework that is consistently applicable across cultures and industries. Rejecting the notion that “ethics” is situation-based or simply means avoiding doing something you don’t want on the front page of the newspaper, the BEF applies the Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church, published by the Vatican in 2005, to contemporary business issues. While based on documents published by the Vatican, the BEF is open to executives from all frames of reference. The management principles advocated by the BEF are universally applicable and require no profession of religious conviction. | What issues must be considered in restructuring a struggling business? What framework should be used to assess the morality of personal and business decisions? What are the criteria for ethical advertising? What considerations other than profit need to be considered in establishing pricing? These are but a few of the examples of issues the BEF helps its members address. |
